A Bloomin’ Female Force Spotlight featuring the founder of Proof Positive Skin Care

“Maybe this one will work.”

That familiar thought is behind more skincare purchases than most of us would probably like to admit. Another product catches our attention, another promise sounds convincing, and into the cart it goes.

Jenn Hallowes wants people to pause before that next purchase and ask a better question: What does my skin actually need?

Jenn is a licensed advanced cosmetologist and instructor, an author, and the founder of Proof Positive Skin Care. She helps people figure out what their skin needs before they buy another product.

Helping People Understand What Their Skin Needs

The purpose behind Proof Positive Skin Care is straightforward. Jenn helps people better understand their skin before adding another product to their routine.

That perspective is reflected in the way she describes her work: “I help people figure out what their skin actually needs before they buy another product.”

Rather than beginning with the next bottle, Jenn begins with the skin itself.

From Northern Michigan to Washington

Jenn’s story has also been shaped by the outdoors. She has moved across the country on her own while chasing wild places, traveling from Northern Michigan to Montana and then Washington.

She has even swum in Crater Lake.

According to Jenn, nature taught her more about skin than any textbook did. Her connection to the outdoors remains an important part of how she spends her time away from work.

The Theme Song That Says It All

If Proof Positive Skin Care had a theme song, Jenn would choose “Hypotheticals” by Lake Street Dive.

“So much of skincare runs on ‘maybe this one will work,’” she explains. “My whole job is replacing the hypotheticals with an actual read of what your skin needs.”

The title fits the central idea behind her work: replacing “maybe” with an actual read of what the skin needs.

Off the Clock

After a busy day, Jenn’s favorite way to unwind is outside with her dog, Finn, as close to the water as she can get.

Floating on her back in a lake is her favorite thing in the world.
