Stuck Staring at a Blank Screen? Try These AI Prompts for High-Converting Blog Posts

Blogging sounds easy enough until you’re staring at the blinking cursor with negative inspiration, a to-do list a mile long and you’ve already re-warmed your coffee…twice!

If you’ve ever thought:

  • “I know I ought to be blogging, but what in the world should I blog about?”

  • “How do I use AI without sounding impersonal?”

  • “I desperately need to get more traffic or leads from my site!”

You’re not alone. And the good news? There’s a better way. If you’re trying to keep up with content but struggling to come up with blog ideas or write consistently, AI can be a game-changer if you know how to use it well.

But here's the thing: not all AI content is created equal. If you just type "write a blog about small business" into ChatGPT, you’re going to end up with something vague and generic, and your audience is never going to read it because A). They can tell it’s AI generated, or B). because they never even see it.

The key is giving your new friend the right prompts so it will spit out content as fun and fabulous as you are. Treat it as your new virtual assistant you’re onboarding. She hasn’t quite caught onto the goals, your language, your business, (or how you take your tea!) so the more specific your direction, the better the output.

As a starting point, I’m sharing here my favorite AI prompts and a couple tips for getting your artificial intelligence reading your mind before you know it.

Why AI Alone Isn’t the Answer (And Why You Still Need Strategy)

Reality is, AI can absolutely help you generate ideas, outlines, and blog posts. But if you want your content to actually bring in traffic, grow your brand, or convert clients— you need a delicate, loving, human touch. You still need:

  • A clear audience and brand voice

  • A smart keyword strategy (think hooks that connect with your ideal audience!)

  • A reason for the blog post to exist (because no one really wants to read about your local weather)

  • Strong headlines, formatting, and CTAs (because one long run-on sentence is the fastest way to lose the interest of your reader!)

I work with clients all the time who launched beautiful Wix sites but let the blog sit untouched because they didn’t have time, didn’t know what to write about, or didn’t know how to actually get traffic.

So if that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.

Don’t worry, I’m here to walk you through prompts that actually work.

SEO-Focused AI Prompts for Blog Content

If your blog strategy includes ranking on Google (hint: it should!), these prompts can help you guide AI to create content that targets keywords to optimize your posts.

Prompt 1: Keyword-Focused Blog Post

"Write a blog post targeting the keyword '[primary keyword]'. Include related terms like '[related keyword 1]', '[related keyword 2]', and '[related keyword 3]'. Use a friendly, informative tone and optimize for search engines."

Prompt 2: SEO-Friendly Blog Outline

"Give me an outline for a blog post about '[topic]'. Include SEO best practices with H1, H2s, and a suggested meta description."

Prompt 3: Long-Tail Keyword Ideas

"What are 10 long-tail keyword variations of '[main keyword]' that I can include naturally in a blog post?"

Prompt 4: Blog Post with On-Page SEO Built In

"Write a blog post that includes internal links to my pages on [topic A] and [topic B], plus a CTA to [goal]. Include keywords like '[keyword 1]' and '[keyword 2]'."

These types of prompts help AI understand not just the topic, but the goal and the SEO context — which means better-performing content.

High-Converting Blog Prompts That Drive Leads or Sales

If you want your blog to do more than just inform (like convert readers into clients or customers), try prompting your AI buddy to focus on a problem/solution type style. I usually try to make things first person, so readers can see themselves in the problem, then bam! I come in and save the day with my website creating wizardry.

Prompt 5: Problem-Solution Style Post

"Write a blog post that addresses the pain point '[insert problem]' and presents '[product/service]' as the solution. Keep it educational, not salesy, and include a call to action at the end."

Prompt 6: Authority-Building Post with Soft CTA

"Write a blog post about '[topic]' that positions my brand as an expert. Use real tips and end with a gentle invite to learn more or book a service."

Prompt 7: Educational + Promotional Hybrid

"Create a blog post that teaches readers about '[topic]' and introduces my offer '[offer name]' as the next step. Include testimonials or success stats if relevant."

Prompt 8: Email List Growth Post

"Write a blog post that explains the benefits of '[topic]' and includes an invitation to download my freebie '[free resource]' in exchange for an email address."

These are great for service-based business owners who want to turn their blog into a low-pressure sales tool that nurtures trust and generates leads.

Blog Intro Prompts That Keep People Reading

It's a bit like Cinderella and the prince at the ball before the clock strikes midnight - you only have a few seconds to hook your reader, or they’re gone forever. AI can write stronger intros if you tell it how to open. For example:

Prompt 9: Compelling Intro with Keywords

"Write an engaging blog intro for '[title]' using the keywords '[keywords]'. The intro should highlight a pain point and promise a clear takeaway."

Prompt 10: Multiple Intro Variations

"Give me 3 different SEO-friendly opening paragraphs for a blog post about '[topic]'. One should be question-based, one anecdotal, and one stats-driven."

You can mix and match these to find what feels best for your audience.

Supporting Prompts to Spark Better Content Ideas

Sometimes the hardest part is just deciding what to write about. Here are some prompts that help AI generate ideas that make sense for your niche.

Prompt 11: Blog Post Topic Ideas

"What are 10 blog post ideas for a business in the [industry] niche that wants to attract [ideal client type]?"

Prompt 12: FAQ-Style Content

"List 10 frequently asked questions about '[topic]' that I can turn into blog posts."

Prompt 13: Seasonal or Timely Content

"Give me a list of seasonal blog post ideas for [industry] for the upcoming [season/month/holiday]."

Prompt 14: Content Pillars or Clusters

"Help me brainstorm 5 core content pillars for a blog in the [industry] space, each with 3 blog post ideas."

With these types of prompts, you can build out a whole content plan — fast. That's DAYS of work (and sanity) you're saving yourself!

What to Remember When Using AI for Blog Writing

Even with the perfect prompt, AI content usually needs a little human polish. If it sounds like AI wrote it, sometimes it’ll tank your SEO or bore readers. After all, people read your blog for your insight. If they wanted AI answers, they’d ask AI. You gotta add a little flair, a little love. I always recommend:

  • Editing for tone, clarity, and accuracy

  • Adding your personal experience, opinions, or voice

  • Fact-checking anything that sounds too generic

  • Making sure the CTA matches your current offer

  • Optimizing the formatting in Wix for readability (headings, bullets, spacing)

Remember, AI can never take your job — it’s there to make your job easier so you can stay consistent without burning out.
